Wolfe van Brusel

Mike Harris

Alan is a veteran of these Dion Fortune seminars and a widely acclaimed and appreciated speaker. He of was born and raised in Northumberland. He is an expert in Earth Mysteries, Spirituality, Mythology and Paganism. He is also an authorititive commentator on the Western Mystery Tradition, through long association with most of its presently celebrated exponents, as well as many of its past masters such as the late WE Butler, WG Gray and Christine Hartley. He has written more than ten books including The Magical Life of Dion Fortune, a biography of the most celebrated of all British Magicians and in absolute contrast "The Google Tantra...or how I was the first Geordie to raise the Kundalini"....a literary sampling of his legendary wit as a speaker...with not a few sound insights subtly thrown in.

Alan lectures in the UK and USA on magical themes and lives in Wiltshire.

Wendy has nearly thirty years' experience of all aspects of the Western Mystery Tradition and is an authority on Egyptian, Celtic, Arthurian and Grail magical traditions. She blends a thorough knowledge and experience of the Qabala and formal ritual magical with Christian Mysticism and modern Paganism, although her main focus is the reunion of Faery and human.

Wendy is co-author with Mike Harris of Polarity Magic: the Secret History of Western Religion (Llewellyn Publications, 2003.) She contributed to Alan Richardson's Spirits of the Stones (Virgin Publishing Ltd, 2001) and to The Arthurian Formula (Dion Fortune, Margaret Lumley Brown and Gareth Knight, Thoth Publications 2006)

Her most recent books are the forthcoming Red Tree White Tree: Faeries and Humans in Partnership (Thoth Publications) and the forthcoming Walking with Gwenevere: A Practical Guide to working with Faeries (Llewellyn Worldwide)

Wendy lives in South Devon and divides her time between writing, walking on Dartmoor and running a hardware shop, 'Fork Handles.'

Penny Billington is a Druid in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and has edited the Order magazine, Touchstone, for six years. Her experiences within the Order include running workshops, organising rituals and lecturing. Her extensive and varied experience of ritual and druidic practice ensure that her stories follow the traditional pattern of esoteric writers,  disseminating occult principles and knowledge through fiction. Penny is the author of  "Gwion Dubh, Druid Investigator" (Appleseed Press), the casebook of a fictional (?) magical/green private eye, where the homespun and hilarious rubs shoulders with some quite profound lore.

In her own words:

"(with apologies to Aneurin, Taliesin and..Keats i think..)

I am Wolf, from North Wales
I am a vegetarian, in human form
I have been a fool on the hill,
Nine nights upon the Chair of Idris, my head revolving
I was among the Company of Hawkwood in Elder Days,
I am an artist-that's my day job, and
I strain the brain of Mike Harris beyond all enduring.
I guard the library of the Inner Light....ook
and occasionally write articles for small magazines.
and bad poetry. I am Wolf...the rest is silence."

Mike , who started and chairs these Dion Fortune Seminars, was trained by Gareth Knight in the Western Mystery Tradition and was one of the founders and directors with Knight of the now legendary mystery school based on Hawkwood College. Mike has spent most of his adult life in North Wales in the area where the Mabinogi, Arthurian and related myths originated. He has written and lectured extensively in the UK and USA on the Western Mystery Tradition in general and the Welsh/British tradition in particular and has appeared on British television.

He is presently Magus of the Company of Avalon. Books and e-books include

"Polarity Magic" (with Wendy Berg), "Awen", "Merlin's Chess", and "Working notes for working Magic",as well as contributions to other  works like Alan Richardson's "Spirits of the Stones" and numerous articles.

Last Year (2007)

A packed house on  for our second Dion Fortune Seminar on September 1st, tackled the  subject of Faery at the Assembly Rooms , Glastonbury,  where some eighty years ago, Dion Fortune saw a performance of Rutland Boughton's Faery opera The Immortal Hour, based on the story by William Sharp.  Our four speakers, Gareth Knight, Alan Richardson, Mike Harris and (William Sharp specialist) Steve Blamires, covered various areas of this vast subject and were prompted to cover even more by a series of questions and answers in our open forum at the end. The subject matter opened up so many facets of this fascinating subject that this year's  Seminar speakers will be dealing with the subject of Faery from further perspectives based essentially on practical experience.
